The front face of the radiate pine veneered board contains free of knots, which are filled and sanded to give a smooth finish, whilst the reverse face has closed knots, or prepared open knots,  leaving a slightly uneven finish. The directional grain of the face and reverse veneers is almost always in the direction of the longest dimension.
